To Taif

After the announcement of the Prophethood, our wonderful Prophet (sallallahu ta’ala alaihi wa aalihi wa’sallam) preached Islam to the people in Makkah Mukkarrama for nine years.  But very few people accepted His invitation.  The opposition from the pagans kept on increasing.  The pagans used to trouble Him (sallallahu ta’ala alaihi wa aalihi wa’sallam) and His wonderful companions (alayhim mur’ridwaan) a lot, and used to make fun of them in different ways.  There were some people who sympathised with them even though they were pagans.  Abu Talib, His (sallallahu ta’ala alaihi wa aalihi wa’sallam) uncle, was one of them.  He had a lot of influence and pressure over the pagans.  He died in the tenth year.  Now the morale of the pagans suddenly boosted, and the troubles and problems which they were creating increased.  Therefore, He (sallallahu ta’ala alaihi wa aalihi wa’sallam) decided to go to Taif, so that He could invite the people to Islam.  After reaching Taif, the King of the two worlds (sallallahu ta’ala alaihi wa aalihi wa’sallam) first of all sent the message of Islam to three leaders from the Banu Saqeef tribe.
